Xbox Gameplay Chart: Gears 5 Storms into the Top 5

Heidi Nicholas - 9th September 2019

With all the excitement about Gears 5, it's no surprise that the game has rocketed onto the Xbox Gameplay Chart, shaking up the top 10 for the first time in weeks. The third-person shooter releases tomorrow. You can prep yourself by taking a look at the Gears 5 achievements, but they won't be easy — we streamed it last week, and managed to scrape just five.

Fortnite, Minecraft and GTA V remain immovable, but Gears 5 has caused the rest of the top 10 to shuffle down a spot. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege had comfortably held its fourth position for seven weeks before Gears 5 knocked it down. It's unlikely Rainbow Six Seige will fall too far, however, as it's been in the top 10 for months. FIFA 19, meanwhile, has been booted off the top 10 entirely, now coming in at 11 on the chart. NBA 2K20 and Hitman join Gears 5 in making their debut on the chart. NBA 2K20 came out last week, and gained itself a respectable spot at 19. HITMAN: The Complete First Season was included in this month's Games with Gold, which perhaps explains its appearance at no.24.

Meanwhile, Assassin's Creed Odyssey is climbing back up the ranks, having recently fallen off the chart for the first time since its launch. Its return last week was most likely thanks to the continued release of the free Lost Tales of Greece content, and the fact that Ubisoft recently made the first episode of their massive paid DLC chapters free for a limited time. The final Lost Tales of Greece is now out, meaning there won't be any more content on that front, but Ubisoft's Odyssey Discovery Tour launches tomorrow, so hopefully Odyssey will continue to keep its place. Monster Hunter: World also makes its reappearance in the chart, thanks to its massive Iceborne expansion which released last week. Lastly, Call of Duty: WWII hovers dangerously close to dropping off the chart, having fallen five places to no.40.

Borderlands 3 releases this Friday, so it's possible we'll see a lot of movement in the chart over the next few weeks. Where do you think Borderlands 3 will place on the chart?
