Hogwarts Legacy gets 2023 release date

Tom West - August 12th 2022

Hogwarts Legacy developer Portkey Games has announced that the magic-filled halls of Hogwarts won't be welcoming us as students until February, thanks to a delay.

Portkey Games has announced via a post on Twitter that its open-world RPG based in the Wizarding World won't be launching this holiday season after all. Instead, Hogwarts Legacy will be released on February 10th, 2023, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Hogwarts Legacy delayed into 2023

While we didn't have a release date other than a window of "Holiday 2022," we now know that Hogwarts Legacy has been delayed into 2023 to give the teams at Portkey Games and Waner Bros. Games Avalanche "a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience."

If you need something to help tide you over until February 10th, why not check out some of the recent inside footage shown during an Autodesk Vision Series event? Alternatively, the previously released 14-minute gameplay video from Portkey Games uncovers a fair amount about what we can expect when the game does release. We've also got a rundown of similarly magical games which you can check out in the meantime!

What do you think of this news? Are you disappointed that we now have to wait until next year to play, or do you feel a little relieved that you can focus on some of the other 2022 releases? Let us know down in the comments!
