The Callisto Protocol looks more Dead Space than ever in new gameplay

The Callisto Protocol, the new action-horror game from Dead Space producer Glen Schofield, got a couple of new gameplay clips at Gamescom Opening Night Live, and it's looking suitably brutal...

Upcoming horror shooter The Callisto Protocol has given off an air of being a spiritual successor to Dead Space since it was first shown, but the new footage out of Gamescom Opening Night Live takes things even further — dismemberment, over-the-top set pieces, telekinesis, intense atmosphere and violence... it certainly feels very familiar, but we can't even be mad at it when it looks as good as this.

The Callisto Protocol is very much its own beast, however, as you can see from the more stealth-heavy sections in the early parts of the footage, as well as tentacled enemies who will mutate and evolve if left unchecked — we see one such foe regenerate entire body parts and grow more deadly in the footage, but it doesn't save it from being picked up and tossed into the handy grinder in the middle of the room just like its friends.

Striking Distance Studios' The Callisto Protocol is coming to Xbox Series X|S on December 2nd. Looking forward to making things dead, in space? Let us know!
