Gamescom's Opening Night Live brought a flood of announcements, reveals, and Xbox Game Pass news. Check out all the Xbox-related news here...

We covered Gamescom's Opening Night Live, but since there were so many reveals and announcements, we decided to round up everything related to Xbox and Xbox Game Pass here — why not take a look through and see if anything catches your eye!

Dune Awakening announcement

First up, Gamescom’s Opening Night Live kicked things off for Xbox players by announcing Dune Awakening for Xbox Series X|S as an open-world survival MMO. No release date yet, but we’ll keep an eye out!

Callisto Protocol gameplay footage

Then, action-horror game The Callisto Protocol unveiled new gameplay footage, featuring dismemberment, telekinesis, and more.

The Lords of the Fallen announcement

Next, we learned that The Lords of the Fallen reboot is coming to Xbox Series X|S, as confirmed with a cinematic trailer. No release date yet, but we’ll update you when we learn more.

Moving Out 2 announcement

A sequel to 2020’s Moving Out, Moving Out 2 was announced for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The couch co-op moving game is set to launch in 2023.

Hogwarts Legacy new trailer

Hogwarts Legacy explored dark magic in its Gamescom trailer, and then revealed that nearly all that footage focuses on an “optional quest line” about Slytherin student Sebastian Sallow.

New Tales from the Borderlands announcement

Gearbox at last announced New Tales from the Borderlands, which arrives on October 21st for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Dying Light 2 DLC revealed

Dying Light 2 shared an announcement trailer for the game’s first story DLC, Bloody Ties, which will be released on October 13th.

Tortuga: A Pirate’s Tale announcement

Tortuga: A Pirate’s Tale sees you taking command of a fleet of pirate ships and recruiting fellow pirate captains in an attempt to become “the greatest pirate of the Caribbean.” There’s no release window for this one yet, but it’ll come to both Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Destiny 2: Lightfall announcement

We learned that Destiny 2’s next big expansion, Lightfall, is set to arrive on February 28th, 2023, with new locations, a new subclass, and more.

Sonic Frontiers release date

We finally got a release date for Sonic Frontiers, which launches for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on November 8th.

Under the Waves announcement

The next reveal from Gamescom’s Opening Night Live was narrative-driven adventure game Under The Waves, which has no release date as yet but is set to come to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Goat Simulator 3 gameplay

Then, Goat Simulator 3 unveiled its chaotic gameplay in a new trailer which included everything from lava and jetpacks to rhinos and football.

Friends vs Friends announcement

Friends vs Friends was then revealed as an online PvP shooter where you build out your card deck and head into battle, unlocking improvements and new cards along the way. Friends vs Friends hasn’t specified a release date or platforms yet, just that it’s coming to consoles and PC.

Lies of P gameplay and Xbox Game Pass confirmation

The gameplay trailer for Souls-like Pinocchio-inspired Lies of P confirmed it’s coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one in 2023.

You Suck At Parking PC Game Pass confirmation

A PC Game Pass montage also confirmed that racing game You Suck At Parking will join PC Game Pass on day one.

Atlas Fallen announcement

Next on the list was the announcement of fantasy action-RPG Atlas Fallen, which launches for Xbox Series X|S in 2023.

High on Life boss fight trailer

High On Life brought its own brand of weirdness to Opening Night Live with a trailer showing off the talking guns in action in a boss fight against an enemy known as 9-TORG.

The Expanse behind-the-scenes look at gameplay

Telltale Games and Deck Nine gave a behind-the-scenes first look at gameplay for The Expanse, and confirmed it will launch in summer 2023 — platforms haven’t been specified yet, but the game is coming to consoles.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game announcement

In an entirely unexpected announcement, Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game was revealed with a trailer, and was confirmed to be based on the 80s comedy horror movie of the same name. It will bring an asymmetrical multiplayer “horror experience” to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One early next year.

Scars Above announcement

Scars Above was then revealed as a third-person sci-fi action-adventure shooter game set on an alien world. It’s “coming soon” to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Age of Empires IV free update announced

Age of Empires IV announced a free update arriving on October 15th with the new Ottoman and Malian civilisations, new masteries for each civilisation, and more.

Gotham Knights release date moved

A new Gotham Knights trailer confirmed the game will actually launch several days earlier than planned on October 21st instead of October 25th.

Park Beyond delayed

Park management game Park Beyond for Xbox Series X|S was delayed to 2023 with a new trailer showing off its modular building.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide new trailer Darktide

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide showed up with a new trailer especially for Gamescom ahead of its launch for PC on November 30th. The game will come to Xbox Series X|S shortly afterwards, although a specific date has not yet been set.

Blacktail new trailer

Blacktail brought its “A Witch’s Fate” trailer to Gamescom — there’s no specific release date for Blacktail yet, but it should come to Xbox Series X|S this winter.

Crossfire X: Babylon update trailer

CrossfireX debuted a trailer for its “biggest content update yet: Babylon,” which is live now with two new maps and more.

Dead Island 2 re-revealed

For the finale of Opening Night Live, we had the re-reveal of Dead Island 2 with not one but two trailers — the cinematic trailer above and the gamep;lay trailer below. Dead Island 2 will launch for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on February 3rd.
