Luke Albigés - August 30th 2022

This week's Xbox Gameplay Chart has a few surprises in store, with MultiVersus sliding just outside the top ten for the first time since launching into beta, and Saints Row failing to crack the top 20 in its first week.

Fortnite and Minecraft still can't be budged from the top spots, but there are some interesting changes below them on this week's Xbox Gameplay Chart. In fact, there's a complete reshuffle in the rest of the top ten as Destiny 2 comes blasting back into the fray, powered by the launch of Season of Plunder last week, but it's Fall Guys and MultiVersus that take the brunt of Bungie's Fists of Havoc, each dropping three places, which is just enough to spike Warner's fighter outside the top ten.

Looking a little lower, the first new entries don't come until just outside the top 20, with Xbox Game Pass newcomer Midnight Fight Express swinging in at 22. Just below in 23rd comes Saints Row, with Volition's reboot failing to make too much of a splash despite being a decent, if rather buggy, open world adventure in need of "a good helping of polish" acccording to our Saints Row review. Below, PowerWash Simulator gets hosed down seven places to 29th and Rumbleverse slides nine spots to 32 amid a sea of games slipping down the chart, where only Elden Ring and Halo: The Master Chief Collection manage to hold their ground outside the top 20.

This week's casualties are Far Cry 5 which falls just outside the top 40 along with Two Point Campus, while Cooking Simulator absolutely plummets off the list, as does Outriders. Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is the final game to bow out, making the list last week on account of a related Game Pass Quest, only to drop over 150 places this week to be nowhere near the top flight.

Things are starting to heat up in terms of new releases and big games coming to Xbox Game Pass soon, so the chart could get pretty spicy in the coming weeks. Will today's Game Pass additions make their mark? Might a dark horse like Steelrising or Metal: Hellsinger manage to outperform Saints Row and find the top 20? We'll just have to wait and see...

In the meantime, here is the top 40 Xbox Gameplay Chart for the week ending August 29th, 2022.
