The Callisto Protocol developer, Striking Distance Studios, looks to be teasing something happening this week via a short video texted to players that contacted them by SMS from a recent promotion. The official Twitter account for The Callisto Protocol recently tweeted a promotional poster calling for players to contact the team, saying: "Now's the time to join the UJC. Call or Text TODAY!" Players that went through with it look to have received a link to a short video that seemingly teases something happening on Thursday, September 29th.
Striking Distance Studios teases The Callisto Protocol goodies
Replying to the initial promotion, one Twitter user posted the reply they received after texting into The Callisto Protocol's UJC message centre. The reply they received came from The United Jupiter Centre, and said "Thank you for your interest in the United Jupiter Company. Our mission is to explore and colonise the Jovian System. To connect with our recruitment department for your potential placement within the UJC, please follow the provided link."
Once the user followed the link, you're pretty much signed up to a well-crafted mailing list from Striking Distance Studios. Players that signed up have already begun to see a return. As Twitter user Shinobi602 has shared, a short video has been sent out, revealing that something is happening this Thursday. It doesn't look to give anything away, but there are plenty of references to missing people posters with the word 'lies' printed across their faces. The beginning of the video looks like a hacked system of sorts, which states 'Security Breach,' before introducing what we think is a secondary faction.
Let's be honest, The United Jupiter Centre is a space-faring corporation, so you know they're going to be a bunch of untrustworthy folks from the offset, with this ARCAS bunch probably looking to take them down. We doubt it'll be an announcement about the game joining Xbox Game Pass in the near future, after a chat we had with Striking Distance recently. The game is built to be "expandable," so a faction divide could offer the team a great opportunity to tell both sides of The Callisto Protocol's factions' stories via DLC.
